At Valen, you will:

  • As a Client-focused Business Analyst, drive business value delivery to clients:
    • Establish a strong, long-term relationship and build client satisfaction over time
    • Present to, work with, and influence all levels of the client’s organization, include “C-level” executives
    • Applying domain expertise, identify the client business problem and goals, advise, present, and oversee the appropriate Valen product solutions to meet client needs
    • Shape business solution requirements for the data, modeling, and software teams
    • Align delivery and delivery with the contract terms
    • Partner with clients to integrate predictive model solutions into their work flow and decisioning environment
    • Prepare business case, cost benefit analysis, executive presentations, and statements of work for new accounts and additional projects with existing clients
    • Ensure successful solution delivery and secure client references to fuel Valen marketing
  • As a Team-focused Project Manager, ensure high-value delivery and excellent time to market:
    • Prepare project budgets and timelines for new and existing clients
    • Drive the team to keep the project on-time and on-budget
    • Direct the delivery team by translating client requirements into actionable tasks, tracking and reporting progress, identifying and managing potential issues and risks
    • Partner to reduce time to successful model deployment by 2 months for accounts closed during your first 6 months

Your Ideal Qualifications include:

  • Education:
    • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Risk Mgmt; MBA a plus
  • Commercial lines knowledge/experience:
    • 5+ years of experience in commercial P&C insurance industry, with 3+ years in underwriting. Commercial Package Policy and BOP experience a plus.
    • Solid familiarity with actuarial rate-making procedures, exposure, premium and loss types, premium and loss adjustments and modifiers, loss cost multipliers, experience rating, policy limits and reinsurance, rating bureau provisions, loss costs and development factors, filing process and content, data reporting, statutory and regulatory knowledge
  • Consulting and client engagement/ownership demonstrated competencies:
    • Creativity, developing practical, implementable solutions for challenging business problems
    • Capable listener, identifying client business problems and synthesizing into a delivery solution
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating the ability to present predictive analytic concepts to Executive Management to our clients
    • Relational qualities, promoting solid client relationships
  • Business analyst and technical competencies:
    • Requirements writing and provision
    • Ability to analyze and understand statistical solutions and apply them in a real-world setting
  • Project management/oversight/budgeting/contracting knowledge and skill sets:
    • Project management discipline and tools
    • Client-specific budget preparation, spend tracking, and billing
  • Other pluses include:
    • 3+ years consulting company experience with end-to-end client ownership
    • CPCU or actuarial certifications or exam passage
    • Predictive modeling knowledge, such as GLM
    • Knowledge of reinsurance
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office
    • Data, Reporting, SQL and programming skills

The opening is in Denver, Colorado, and will require occasional travel to clients, prospects, and partners.
